Post Re: The next phase in my "unpopular Crawlers" builds
Yea, well, I've always intended on building it up. The axles were something that was underway for a while now (I think my initial conversation with creationfab was before Christmas) and was going to go on this chassis. Also, once I found out I could get some VP stuff at the same time and avoid waiting and paying more for shipping I decided to purchase it from Chris and have it sent to me in one package (he also sourced the Axial stuff). I didn't intend on getting another chassis right away but as it happened Chris's first run of chassis showed up just as he was finishing up my axles so was able to add it to the shipment and he also agreed to make links for me which is important for a newbie like me. I had intended on updating the shocks on my current setup also but everything had to be researched, ordered, blah blah.

I have that proline helios body I'll probably cut down and run so no worries on a body. KC was kind enough to provide me with some XR10 body mounts for it.

Anyone have any input as to where I can get some decent hardware for this build? All I really have is the crap that came with the ready to crawl version. I would like to get some nice button head stainless or aluminum hardware for it. I know a film sells the steel ones in different lengths so I could potentially go that route.

Links showed up so I'm almost there.

Buy an rcscrews kit. They make one for just about every rig out there, but if you can't find the specific one, just grab one for an scx10 or something similar. Nice quality stainless screws with all the required nuts and bolts as well. Most hobby shops should have at least a few different kits in stock.

Well, I can't believe I'm bumping this. after staring at this thing on my shelf while working on my scalers I decided to buy some D-Lux wheels for it as I was not a fan of the ones I had.

I was never super happy with the result of the links that were made for me with this chassis and didn't really work with what I had for suspension so....just got tired of spending money on it and put it on the shelf, think that was around the time the PM Hobby location was also shut down.

Not sure if anyone here even crawls here anymore (saw a mass exodus like 2ish years ago) but I figure at the very least I will have a very capable camping rig. I've already spent the money and it's built up.

I was looking on RCC to see if there is anyone making chassis anymore but doesn't really look like it.

Good that your working on it again, like you say at least you can take it camping and have some fun.

I am not sure what is going on with the whole crawler thing here either. Post some shots of the truck when you get the wheels.

We are still around Tuna.

We still crawl every Friday night @ Codies.

Send me a PM if you're into stopping by.

FYI - Still plenty of chassis being built for a shafted crawler.
